Gin

Description

Aviation American Gin is a brand of gin that was first produced in Portland, Oregon, by founders Christian Krogstad and Ryan Magarian in 2006. It is referred to by some as an “American dry gin” and is produced by House Spirits Distillery. It has a smooth and balanced flavor profile, with a floral and citrusy aroma, a spicy and earthy taste, and a clean and crisp finish. It is inspired by the classic cocktails of the pre-Prohibition era, such as the Aviation, the Martinez, and the Negroni.

Ingredients

Aviation American Gin is made with seven natural botanicals: juniper berries, lavender flowers, sweet and bitter orange peels, cardamom pods, coriander seeds, Indian sarsaparilla root, and anise seeds.

Best Pairing

* Cheese: soft cheeses like brie or goat cheese can balance the floral and citrus notes of the gin; hard cheeses like cheddar or parmesan can enhance the spicy and earthy notes of the gin.
* Seafood: shellfish like oysters or scallops can match the crisp and clean finish of the gin; fish like salmon or tuna can contrast the herbal and aromatic qualities of the gin.
* Fruit: berries like raspberries or blackberries can add sweetness and acidity to the gin; citrus fruits like lemon or grapefruit can accentuate the zesty and refreshing aspects of the gin.
* Chocolate: dark chocolate can create a rich and decadent pairing with the gin; white chocolate can create a smooth and creamy pairing with the gin.
